What Salvation Does the Bible Point To? Saved From What? ( Seisho no Shimesu Sukui to wa Nani kara no Sukui nanoka? )
First Encounter With the Bible Series #3. What is religion? Worship of a god or supernatural being who is holy. People turn to religion to find the purpose and meaning of life, peace of heart, guidance and good fortune. Saved from Sin. We all have bad thoughts and actions, but more than that we ignore God and try to live on our own without Him, which separates us from our Creator God who is holy. Sin of the first humans Adam and Eve in Genesis 3 became part of our human nature. Sin results in death and judgement for all (Hebrews 9:27). Jesus died on the cross as our substitute to take our sin and punishment so we could be forgiven. How can the death of one person help many others? An example is the character Nagano from Ayako Miura’s novel Shiokari Pass who gave his life to stop a runaway train and save many. Eternal Life. Jesus rose bodily from death and says he is the resurrection and the life (John 11:25). He gives eternal life with God to all who believe (John 3:16). So we can live with God now and, when this life is over, forever with Him. Adapted from BibleLearning Seisho Guide MOOK. Includes QR code link to OIKOS web site for those who want know more.
